First seed capital investment drives LuxQuanta
New QuantumCAT member LuxQuanta is driving an investment round with the strategic intent to establish itself as a leader in the quantum security industry.
LuxQuanta Technologies SL is ICFO’s 10th spin-off, launched in May 2021. LuxQuanta’s technology and intellectual property originated in ICFO’s Optoelectronics research group, led by ICREA Professor Valerio Pruneri, who also participates in the QuantumCAT project “Continuous Variable Quantum Key Distribution (DCC-VC)”.
In this round of seed funding, the start-up has received investments from industry leaders, including Corning and GTD, which represents a significant step forward in its goal of establishing itself as the sole provider of secure quantum security solutions for current telecommunication infrastructures. Investments from Corning and GTD will enable LuxQuanta to move its technology from the lab to commercialization, deploying quantum key distribution technology to protect digital data in the near future.
“This investment is an important first step for LuxQuanta to become a leading provider of secure quantum solutions. GTD and Corning are companies whose technology is complementary to LuxQuanta products. We are very excited to work with them to leverage the synergies and build a strong collaboration“, says LuxQuanta CTO Sebastian Etcheverry.
